Community Guidelines

The following Community Guidelines are here to help you understand what we expect from every member of GotBrief. We know that everyone views the world in a different way, but that doesn’t mean you have to act like that guy, you know the one, that guy who you probably wouldn’t want your kids hanging around with…

The most important thing:

  • You own what you upload.
  • GotBrief isn’t a design competition looking to crowdsource designs, that’s not our style. We’re here to focus your creativity, to inspire you and to give you the opportunity to share what you do with others!
    Your work is yours.
  • We fully support the AntiSpec campaign and you should too!

The yes list…

  • Play nice and behave.
  • GotBrief has an aim to be a global community. As such, you might come across people who see things in a different way, have different views and might have a different opinion. Please respect these and be courteous – politeness and respectfulness means we can all play together without any issues.
  • Make sure you’ve created what you upload.
  • Copyright exists for a reason. The point is to show how awesome you are at creating your own stuff, not using Google and stealing someone else’s work. Please respect copyright.
  • Be constructive in your feedback.
  • No one is going to learn from a comment like: "OMG THIS IS IS RUBBISH", lose the caps & provide some constructive feedback to help people learn!
  • Link away.
  • You may want to add an image from GotBrief on another site. Please respect other’s ownership and link to both their profile and GotBrief in your attribution.
  • Have fun.
  • Pretty self-explanatory! Enjoy GotBrief and get creative!

The no list…

We don’t like banning people, and we believe in the inherent good of all men. However, breaking the rules below means we may wield the ban hammer and strike sweet vengeance upon your profile (think Samuel L Jackson in Pulp Fiction).

  • No work that you pilfered from elsewhere.
  • We are strong believers in the ownership of original content. If it’s not yours and you pilfered it from elsewhere on the web a kitten dies. Don’t kill the kitties!
  • Nothing inappropriate.
  • Just because it isn’t illegal doesn’t mean it isn’t in bad taste. We like to use the parent test – if your mum or dad would be offended then it’s probably not good for GotBrief.
  • That naked thing.
  • Don’t be that creepy guy with a webcam. We’ve all got bits that pop in and out – the rest of the world doesn’t want to see it (most likely). Naked people = no account
  • No law breaking.
  • If we find you breaking the law we might get a little Judge Dredd. You may wake up one day and find you have no account, and that we’ve reported you to the appropriate authorities.
  • Boring, ranty people who just like to vent are not welcome!
  • GotBrief is not a soapbox for you to abuse or harass others. The same goes for pretending to be someone you’re not or intimidating/threatening behaviour. If someone has a valid reason to complain, expect a nasty warning email or waking up to find your account has been deleted!
  • Don’t use your account to host stuff for another site.
  • Work to the brief and showcase your talent. Don’t use it as a place for your god-awful animated gif web banners. We’ll delete your account if we find this happening.
  • Don’t use GotBrief to sell stuff.
  • Don’t use the GotBrief platform to directly hawker your wares. Let your artwork do the talking and let the potential employers come to you.

The other bits…

  • You are not the only one here!
  • We don’t control what people create. You might not agree with some of it. There’s even a chance that some might offend you. If it does, report it to us using the report button. Don’t take matters into your own hands and get all high and mighty in the comments.
